On the 11th June 2021, the Mauritian Minister of Finance presented the Budget 2021-22

At this stage, what follows are proposals which have not yet been enacted into law and are subject to the Budget 2021-22 Bill being ratified by Parliament in Mauritius.

We have focused on 6 sectors of the Budget 2021-22:

1. Immigration
2. Corporate Tax
3. Personal Tax
4. Value Added Tax
5. Tax Administration
6. Other Tax

Occupation Permit (OP)

1. 10-year family Occupation Permit introduced for those contributing USD 250,000 to the COVID-19 Projects Development Fund.

2. A paper-based Occupation Permit will be replaced by a smart card.

3. The requirement for OP applicants to enter Mauritius on a business visa will be waived.

4. A non-citizen will be eligible for an OP irrespective of his visa category when entering Mauritius.

5. A Privilege Club Scheme will be implemented providing incentives such as privilege access to hotels, golf courses, etc. to OP holders and retirees.

6. A non-citizen who purchases or otherwise acquires an apartment used, or available for use, as a residence, in a building of at least 2 floors above a ground floor (GF+2), provided the purchase price is not less than USD 375,000 will be issued with a residence permit, including for his dependents, and exempted from the requirement of a work or occupation permit.
